Ravi

Ravi is the Sanskrit word for the sun, and by extension the name of Surya himself in hymn and horoscope. It belongs to the small group of Indian names whose meaning lives openly on the surface, unmissable the moment you hear it. Two compact syllables, RAH-vee, bright and easy on an English tongue. Ravi Shankar carried it across the world on a sitar, and it has since become a confident pick for Indian families abroad and an increasingly familiar choice in Western cities.
